Awareness Through Adornment

Project Overview

Awareness Through Adornment focuses on uplifting the voices of marginalized groups in the Cd. Juarez/El Paso Borderland. The groups here include the LGTBQ+community, Muslims, Black folks, Asian folks, and the Indigenous community. This collaborative art project stems from an extensive research consisting of surveys and interviews. All pieces are original artworks created by the artist, including the photographs and poems; each reflecting on the experiences and conversations she had with the borderland community.

This project was funded partially by the City of El Paso Museums & Cultural Affairs Department.
